Leanna Bissell is a Registered Psychotherapist working with teens aged 15-18 and adults. Leanna has seven years of experience as a counsellor and therapist, with a focus on injury recovery and rehabilitation support at Community Head Injury Resource Services in Toronto for adults with acquired brain injury. After receiving her Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology in 2022, Leanna broadened her psychotherapy practice to include: substance abuse, disordered eating and body dissatisfaction (dieting/restrictive eating, emotional eating), anxiety (social anxiety, worry, rumination), and depression (low mood, low motivation, fatigue, poor concentration). Leanna works collaboratively with clients to enhance their existing coping skills and support issues such as, impulse control and managing urges, that can accompany these issues. Further, Leanna has recently undergone intensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), an empirically validated and best-practice approach for trauma and stress. She works with clients to process underlying trauma by first resourcing the client, then supporting them to desensitize and reprocess difficult memories and traumatic events.

Leanna believes that therapy is a partnership and a collaborative process that focuses on creating an atmosphere where meaningful and impactful conversations can take place to explore a person’s inner strengths and therapeutic goals. Leanna’s approach draws from the following therapeutic modalities: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, EMDR (trauma informed) and Polyvagal informed therapy.
